May Flowers

shorts (LOFT), shell (LOFT, extra 60% off), blazer (Aqua, Bloomingdales), shoes (Pour La Victoire), clutch (Kate Spade), ring (Kendra Scott), ring (Anna Beck), cuff (unknown), shades (Gucci)

One of my fave months of the year is upon us...my little gal turns 4 this week, school is almost out, warmth is here to stay--good stuff all the way around!  As I mentioned on Monday, totally digging the shorts/blazer combo...this time around, I wanted a more feminine feel so I opted for silky fabrics.  Due to the 'flowy' nature of the floral shorts & shell, I chose to tailor it up a bit by throwing on the blazer as a topper.
Lastly---you know, I haven't been into a LOFT in ages...possibly since I first got out of college and into the real world where I needed workwear.  No particular reason why, just wasn't in my circuit of places I like to shop...until now.  I hopped into our Whole Foods a few weekends ago and a new LOFT (Lexington Green for us locals) was having their grand opening event next door.  Stumbled on in and good grief---great little spring/summer numbers all throughout the store (with a good portion of the store being on SALE).  They've definitely got a modern feminine mix going on which I just love.  Shoutout to my gal, Elizabeth, for making my shopping experience such a lovely one--and tracking down the shell pictured above!  Make it a good one!

Derby Does Hats

beth:  dress (French Connection, Dress & Dwell), fascinator (Headcandi), shoes (Zara), bracelets & clutches  (Dandelion)
danielle (Shoshanna, Blink! Louisville), hat (Headcandi), shoes (Zara)
Ladylike or a little more playful, either of these looks would be perfect for the Derby (big thanks again  to Danielle for snagging us some fun little frocks---doesn't she just look gorg).  I think one thing to point out--we've got a lot going on with our top halves--so I believe it to be best to keep other accessories to a minimum and let the hat or fascinator be the highlight.  While Danielle is keeping it classic with her lace shift & clutch, we decided to play my look up a bit with a colorful clutch---yes, this day is one of classic tradition; however, it doesn't mean you can't infuse some playfulness into your look---make it a good one, gang!
PS--the winner of the Bloomingdale's Gift Card is SANDI!  Congratulations Miss Sandi---please message me directly with your address & I will send your Bloomie's card stat!  An enormous thanks to all who participated---you all made last week fab!

And We're Off.....

beth:  dress (Milly c/o Clodhoppers, Louisville), shoes (Boutique 9), necklace (Adele of Lexington), ring (Lagos), watch (Cartier)
danielle:  dress (Milly c/o Clodhoppers, Louisville), earrings & clutch (Dandelion Boutique), shoes (Zara)

I must give credit where the proper credit is due.  This upcoming week full of fabulous Derby looks is the brain child of my best blogging pal, Danielle from Lou What Wear.  Danielle is totes in the know when it comes to Derby week so when I was asked to join in the on the fun and snap some Derby looks with her lovely photog, Whitney Neal, I jumped at the chance.  Honestly, I don't know what was more fun--getting all dolled up in these fun Milly frocks compliments of Clodhoppers or laughing my hind off with Danielle--kid is a stitch--seriously! If I may make a suggestion if purchasing a frock for this weekend's race, make sure you can get extra 'mileage' out of it...these dresses can totally be worn for the big day or a shower (bridal/baby), summer wedding, etc--multipurpose is key for me!

Joining in on the Derby fesitivities is Adele of Lexington--even if you're a non Kentuckian, mention
s + s when calling and they'll ship your baubles for free!  Alright, gang, make it a good one & stay tuned for more collabo's with Danielle and myself throughout the week!

Blazin' Shorts

blazer (Gap), blouse (J.Crew), shorts  (J.Crew), belt (J.Crew), chucks (Converse), necklace (t+j designs), clutch (Monkee's of Lexington), watch (Cartier), bracelets (J.Crew), ring (Lagos) shades (Ray Ban)

No doubt you all will see me sporting lots of blazers & shorts this season. It comes as no surprise that  I am a huge fan of casual polish, and I believe the shorts/blazer combo to fit that bill perfectly.

On a festive note, it's a big week here in KY-- Derby week!!  In honor of the races, myself & Danielle from Lou What Wear will be serving up Derby style all week.  Stay tuned for an outfit post later today showcasing some beautiful threads perfect for the track.  Alright gang, make it a good one!

To say that I'm thrilled it's Friday would be an immense understatement---had quite the week of traveling on the road for work and I am zonked!  When I tell you the look above is such a love of mine, I'm not fibbing---it's hard to pick up on in the images, but the faint seersucker blazer (collar popped), a baseball tee, some distressed denim, & chucks---oooooohhh boy, she's a keeper!   I feel completely myself wearing rigs like this--pulled together yet ridiculously comfy!  You can shop the look below.
Just a quick note of gratitude.  You all made the Anniversary such an amazing one--your feedback & words of encouragement are so appreciated--I'm going to run the giveaway through Sun night so be sure to enter!  I would be remiss if I didn't mention one integral part of s + s....she brings the blog & my vision to life and this place would be nada if it wasn't for her talents behind the lens---I thank you, KT.  Thank you for your hard work, dedication to me & the blog, tolerating my shenanigans such as nagging deadlines, for airbrushing my crow's feet (my favorite thing about her), for being an amazing mentor & friend, and for saying "Yes," that day in Starbucks when I approached you with this crazy idea.  The gal has seen me in my bday suit, acting a fool, taking too long to change in the freezing cold, and yet--she still meets me  to shoot my mug time and time again...love you kid! Alright gang, enough of the mush---make it a good one!
