A Day In the Life of Beauty

Vaseline Spray & Go//Clarisonic//Hair Gloss//SPF//Polish//Lip Balm//Brow Gel//Brow Pencil & Tweezers//Tinted Moisturizer//Baby Powder //Facial Moisturizer//Facial Cleanser//Fish Oil//Mask//Acrylic Tray

Otherwise entitled, "If Stranded On an Island," "How To Get Ready With Two Monkey's Underfoot," "Get Three People Ready in Under 20 Minutes," or my personal favorite, "Put Your Money Where Your Microderm Is."
Look, even if you're not a mom and only obligated to get yourself ready in the morn, it can be a challenge to do so in a timely fashion, correct?  It is CRITICAL for me to have time saving routines in the morning that are also cost effective.  Like with fashion, I believe you should invest your money in the things that really cannot be duplicated in a drugstore setting--for me that is a Clarisonic Mia, a retinoid cream (not pictured but endlessly loved), and monthly Microdermabrasions and/or Chemical Peels--this is where I toss my funds for my face/body.  As for the daily routine, I rely on the drugstore finds for the most part because I find they get the job done and my wallet doesn't take a huge hit.  A timesaver..Imperative. Seriously.  Enter Vaseline Spray & Go Moisturizer....stuff is the real deal and is my first order of business post shower.  Not sure what I love more about it, the smell (think island hopping), fact you can spray it on in a jiff, or that it absorbs ridiculously fast and truly is so very moisturizing (I really don't even rub it in) and can literally toss on my rig right after I spray.  Oh and if your preggers, I've got a legit Source that says it's fabulous for moisturizing the bump and preventing stretch!  I follow that up with a mixture of Moisturizer & Tinted Moisturizer and of course some SPF.  So truly, if I was stuck on an island and could only have a portion of what is pictured above I would insist on the Vaseline Spray & Go Moisturizer and Eyebrow Gel.  Seriously, I am a weirdo when it comes to my brows---butcher my hair, fine---mess up my brows--no dice!  So as long as I'm moisturized and the brows are well groomed, I'm a happy cat.  Other little tricks I use--no time to wash the hair?  I lightly dust some baby powder at my roots and blast it with the blow dryer (absorbs any oil and adds a little texture to the hair).  Need a little glow on the face?  Swipe a little Balm on the apples of your cheeks for a dewy pick me up.  And always remember your Vitamins!  Would love to hear any time saving tips or tricks you all use--do share!  Make it a good one, gang!

Snaked this Parker number at the Voce Sidewalk Sale several weeks ago and come on, sailboats, what's not to love?  Def plan on pairing this little frock with some flats & my Denim Vest for a casual weekender look.  Lexingtonians, Voce has a killer selection of Parker frocks (possibly some still on sale, too)--check out some of my faves below.  Gotta keep her brief today, gang--I'm in Columbus for a work meeting and I've got to scoot--y'all make it a good one!

Pattern Play

shorts (Library by Lauren Lail c/o), tshirt & belt (J.Crew), crossbody (Rebecca Minkoff), flats (DVF), watch (Cartier), bracelets (J.Crew & Linea Pelle), ring (Anna Beck & Lagos), shades (Ray Ban)
Even if she wasn't a native Kentuckian (and Wildcat), I'd still adore the modern vintage feel of Library by Lauren Lail.  With a stunning collection of vintage finds (see HERE), luckily for us, Lauren has taken that love of vintage a step further and created her own Line of modern pieces complemented with a unique vintage feel.  Make sure you check it--I've got a few other pieces from Library that are currently in heavy rotation--very sweet and special pieces all the way around!  Alright gang, make it a good one..I've got a sick bunny I've got to run to the doc so I've gotta dip!  Cheers to a wonderful Wednesday!

Summer Staples

dress (Asos cute stripes HERE & HERE), shoes (French Connection), bag (Vintage, Street Scene), hat (HM, see SIMILAR), cuff (Gold Version HERE HERE/, shades (Ray Ban), ring (Anna Beck)
A movie solo, trolley & rickshaw rides around Lex, County Club Restaurant with one of the best couples I know, this fantastic gal, grilled pimento cheese sammy, chicken fights in the pool, kids tree climbing, this DVF dress, a dinner alfresco with my ladies followed by evening strolls for ice cream...This was my wonderful weekend and some of the many reasons I just adore summer!  Kinda freaking because school starts for us on Aug 14 which seems entirely too soon so I'm going to soak up these last few weeks of break.  But let's get to the frock, shall we now?
No shocker here that essentially half of my wardrobe consists of stripes.  Sorry, gang, I don't see that affair ending anytime soon.  This Striped Midi is a perfect summer staple that can be dressed up with Heels or down with Sandals.  Two other summer faves, a Panama Hat & Red Shades top off the feel of this summer rig.  I'm thinking you could technically carry this Dress into the fall by tossing a sweater over it so it appears as more of a midi skirt.  Finding summer pieces (on sale preferably) that will last into the fall are what I'm scouting out these days.  Speaking of sale, Piperlime is having 20% off site wide with code EVERYONE.  I scored ThisThis, These, & These--consider me officially on shopping lock down!  Make it a good one, gang!

Tuck The Tunic

tunic (Pomegranate ), shorts (J.Crew other shades HERE), belt (Gucci), heels (French Connection ON SALE), bag (Kooba), necklace (Maya Brenner), rings (Anna Beck & Lagos), watch (Timex, Crewcuts), bracelet (Linea Pelle), shades (Ray Ban)
Pretty standard way to wear the tunic is loose and flowing over skinnies & shorts or just as a stand alone cover up.  This summer I've been digging the look of it tucked in with a belt (see HERE HERE)--something about it just seems to keep with the casual feel but still feel a bit more pulled together.  A little hard to depict the green elephant motif in these shots, but the prints from Pomegranate are just darling (I MAY own one of each)!  Regardless how you sport the tunic, it's a summer staple and will no doubt keep you cool during these scorchers.  One other quick note, these French Connection Heels are hands down the perfect neutral shoe.  I was so bummed when I lost my Rafe wedges (last seen HERE)--damn it if they didn't just walk right on up out of my closet!  Anyhow, I've been on a mad hunt for a replacement since, and I'm thinking I like the FCUK's better (I highly suggest sizing up a whole size--I'm typically an 8.5 and after reading reviews bought a 9.5 and they fit perfectly).  Speaking of shoes, how about we announce the ShoeMint Giveaway Winner?  A big congrats goes to Brooke Neville!  Congrats, Brooke, and a sincere thank you to all who participated.  Alright gang, make it a good one & enjoy your weekend!

Double Drop

dress (Boutique by Jaeger, ASOS on SALE), shoes (Via Spiga), necklaces (BaubleBar see similar HERE & HERE, Acrylic Links Adele of Lexington), bag (Furla LOVE this PERFORATED TOTE), rings (Anna Beck & Lagos), bracelets (Adele of Lexington Cuff & Linea Pelle), shades (Ray Ban)
Fun little pairing today with the lovely Shannon from Style With Shannon.  A fellow mother of two, I was immediately drawn to Shannon's laid black glam.  The gal is seriously effortless and I just adore her feminine mixes.  Case in point, her drop waist dress is absolutely perfect for a night out--not to mention I have been clocking her BAG for months now!  I chose to go with a daytime look and this Drop Waist Stripe Dress fits the bill perfectly.  You could even toss on some heels or chucks depending on where your day takes you.  Alright, gang, still time to enter the ShoeMint Giveaway, I will announce the winner Friday!  Make it a good one!

Smock Talk

dress (Asos), bag (Rebecca Minkoff), flats (Belle by Sigerson Morrison), shades (Ray Ban), bracelets (LOVE InPink c/o & Linea Pelle avail @ Voce on Clay), ring (Anna Beck)
Told ya I was in a dress mode right now--with this dang heat, they're my current go to!  So this Smock Dress I am adoring these days (wore it THIS WAY on Sunday).  Not only does it take me back to my childhood a bit with its fun & flowy shape, I'm a sucker for anything gingham, and as stated previously--it's perfectly lightweight for this scorching heat!  What is in heavy rotation for you this summer?  Also, make sure you head over to yesterday's ShoeMint Giveaway and enter to win a pair of ShoeMint shoes.  Make it a good one!
