Typically when people think of colors for summer, they may go for turquoise, pink, yellow, white, etc....but if I may suggest one of my current fave hues for the summer---It's none other than Olive. Here's why I'm loving this neutral tone. It pairs with all of those aforementioned summer brights but even better than that...she's beautiful as a standalone. And with many of us having just a touch of color on our skin, the olive will only enhance the sun-kiss.
Styled up the hue two ways and while there's a handful of others olive would pair with, I love the idea of enhancing it's neutrality by adding warm browns a la a summer sandal. I also love adding just a slight print mix to the neutral with a touch of leo. If you're a little hesitant to sport the color, try starting with a layering piece such as an olive vest---it will carry you not only thru the summer but also well into the fall. Tossing on an earthy element such as a Wooden Necklace and adding a hint of neon with a tribal heel adds fun bits of detail to this olive summer dress from Target. But I have to say one of my favorite complements to olive has got to be gold accessories! Think rings, cuffs, anklets, hoops---there's something so beautiful and earthy about the two in my book.
In a sea of color this summer, you'd be amazed how much you'll stand out in a beautiful neutral tone like olive. Target has boatloads of options including dresses, tees, blouses, shorts, vests---you name it...there's some olive to support it. Be sure to pay Target a visit (like you didn't already have that on your agenda) and get creative with the color. Cheers to a great start to your weekend, gang---make it a great one!
