The Cozy Mix

turtleneck (J.Crew), denim (Paige c/o), scarf (Rag & Bone--see other plaids below), wellies (Hunter), bag (similar Michael Kors)

Quintessential Bluegrass weather here as of late--chilly, windy, wet--kinda dreary and yet oh so fall.  So really there is no better time to bust out the Wellies than this time of year.  Other quintessential fall pieces?  The Oversized Turtleneck and infamous Plaid Scarf  (love this BLANKET PLAID, too).  All pair together perfectly and are so very cozy.  It's all about the Blanket Scarf as of late so I've got some goodies listed below....alright gang, y'all have a great day and make it a good one!

Shorts, Stripes & Sweats

shorts (Gap), sweatshirt (Current/Elliot see SIMILAR), blouse (J.Crew), bag (Michael Kors), flats (J.Crew, SIMILAR 25% OFF), watch (Tag Heuer), bracelet (J.Crew), shades (Gucci)

Many of my fave things going on with this rig...stripes (obviously) & a cozy sweatshirt being the top two.  I am just loving the fit of these Boyfriend Shorts (love THESE , too)--the relaxed feel add to the casual factor which I why I chose to add a feminine pair of Silver Ballets.  Next week I'll spruce these boyfriends up a bit for a night out so make sure you take a gander.  Alright, gang, make it a good one and enjoy your weekend!

Bows & Dots

top (C.Major, AJs Casuals, Lexington), skirt (J.Crew oldie, OBSESSED with THESE DOTS), heels (Zara), bag (Michael Kors), belt (target), bracelets (J.Crew, Stella & Dot), watch (Michael Kors), shades (colors in optiCS), ring (Lagos & Anna Beck)
And with the click of one button, my shopping freeze came to an abrupt end--it was THIS Rebecca Minkoff purse that resulted in my failure, damnit!!  I lasted a measly 7 days...what a crock--I don't know what in the Sam Hell I was thinking trying to implement such a thing!  I'm still doing my best to utilize what I've already got hanging in my closet such as the pencil skirt above (seen last year HERE).  Paired with this C.Major bow blouse from AJs Casuals, and you've got a great feminine look for daytime.  Alright, gang, make it a good one--it's soggy here in the Bluegrass so stay dry Lexingtonians!

Floral Gets Vintage

dress (vintage, Street Scene, Lexington ), necklace (Adele of Lexington), shoes (Zara), bag (Michael Kors), cuff (unknown), ring (Lagos), watch (Cartier), shades (Ray Ban), ring (Anna Beck)
Note to self:  When you're attempting to do a 21 Day NO Shopping Spree don't go to the damn mall!  Granted it was to help my gal, KT, pick out some threads for an upcoming project that I'm all too excited to share with you all--but nonetheless, I think there are claw marks in J.Crew from her having to tear me outta there!

But enough of the inevitable cave on my personal challenge, onto the vintage goodness. A few posts ago, I spoke of my Baseball Vintage Find & my day vintage shopping with oh so fabulous Suzy.  Seriously, she is one of those women you are immediately drawn to, could listen to for hours, cultured & traveled out the wazoo, would totally pillage to get a hold of her closet, should be intimidated by and yet she's beyond down to earth & feel like she's been your friend for ages.  She's downright fab in all the right ways!  I developed my crush upon her accidentally introducing s + s on camera as, "Seersucker + SaddleBAGS,"  how could I not instantly love this woman?  It was she who spotted the frock above, and with an amazing seamstress, I envisioned what the dress could be (a slightly edgy June Cleaver don't you think).  And there it is---why I reclaimed my love of vintage.  It calls for a vision and creativity.  It allows you to make a piece all your own---totally one of a kind.  Not to mention the thrill of the hunt is so fun, and I would be remiss if I didn't tell you this frock was under $20 (thank you Street Scene).  How do you all feel about vintage--into it, not so much?  Would love to hear--I hope to have a little video of our day here in the next few weeks!  Alright, gang, make it a good one & have a fantastic weekend!

Vintage Baseball

jeans (Citizens of Humanity), tee (Vintage, Street Scene, Lexington), shoes (Zara), bag (Michael Kors), watch (Cartier), cuff (unknown), ring (Anna Beck), shades (Gucci)
I will elaborate in further detail in the near future about my fabulous vintage excursion with Suzy Kellems Dominik (where I scored this old school t-shirt).  In the meantime, snag a Baseball Tee, knot her up, dress her down with Chucks or up with heels, and enjoy your kickoff weekend to the summer!
A big congrats to Kate Beebe on winning the Pomegranate Tote & Samantha White on winning The Shelf Giveaways!  Hope you gals enjoy & many thanks to all who participated.  Make it a very good holiday weekend, gang!

Work It

blazer (Gap, love THIS  & THIS), blouse (Loft), pants (J.Crew, Leather Version), shoes (Zara, love THESE), bag (Michael Kors), necklaces (vintage, InPink), watch (Michael Kors), ring (Anna Beck), bracelets (J.Crew), shades (Gucci)
I wore this look to work the other day and I have to say, it is my ideal 9 to 5 ensemble.  I find it comfy yet polished while still maintaining some personality & professionalism.  The Loft Dalmatian Blouse is a current fave with its light, airy feel & fun dotted print.  Toss on some Baubles and roll the sleeves of your vibrant blazer (with a side of popped collar if you so choose) and you are all set to tackle your day!  PS:  if you love THIS NECKLACE as much as I do, INPINK is offering s + s readers 30% off all jewelry with code SEERSUCKER30 (code valid thru 6/10/13).  Make it a good weekend, gang!

A Trendy Classic

dress (Zara), jacket (HM, see Similar), shoes (Belle by Sigerson Morrison), bag (Michael Kors), watch (Cartier), ring (Kendra Scott), bracelets (J.Crew), shades (Ray Ban)
Part trendy for the black & white and yet all the way classic with the black & white, the stripes and khaki anorak.  That's basically what had me sold with this dress is its ability to be current and yet still be classic all at the same time.  Quite important when choosing your frocks if you ask me!  You all make it a good one--I am actually MOVING this weekend (still in Lexington) and therefore my list of TO DOs today is quite insane...Can't wait to get all settled in the new nest!

Seeing Spots

jeans (Paige Denim see similar HERE, HERE, HERE), sweater (Old Navy), blouse (J.Crew), flats (Madewell ON SALE), bag (Michael Kors), watch (Cartier), necklaces (Hyla Dewitt, Adele of Lexington, target, vintage), shades (Gucci)
Not a mag. Not Pinterest.  Not a fellow blogger.  Gang, this rig was actually inspired by none other than a sweet adorable Dalmatian named Mali (Hi McKamy & Holly)!  Seriously, this pup is the cutest, chubbiest little thing...but it was Mali's patterned spots that had me inspired.  So you see, don't limit yourself to the usual sources of inspiration--it truly is any & everywhere!  Make it a good one--oh, and ps: I will be at Adele this Thursday for their Hazen Jewelry & Marc Allison Jeans Trunk Show--but I'm certainly not limiting myself to just those as Adele is swarming with gems left & right--would love to see y'all there!
