The Neon Lace

top & skirt (ALC, c/o Voce on Clay--nonlocal online HERE & HERE), heels (Kate Spade, see SIMILAR), clutch (asos old, see HERE & HERE), bracelets (Stia Couture, Adele of Lexington), watch (Daniel Wellington), bracelet (Coordinates, Omar + Elsie), rings (Lagos, Anna Beck), shades (Gucci)

You've got the gang at Voce to blame and/or thank for this little number that I am so over the moon for--seriously.  I was getting my Hair Cut by the talented Lindsey when this little two piece number caught my attention from afar.  And therein lies the dilemma with Voce--you go in for a simple cut and color and damnit all if you don't want to empty your wallet on all of their insane threads...insane.  Rag & Bone, Elizabeth & James, Parker, JBrand, Rails, Equipment..the list goes on.  If you follow Voce on Instagram, you'll see what I mean.

One other quick note, I have to send an enormous thank you to Andrew who photographs his lovely girlfriend Grace from A Southern Drawl.  Guy came through in the clutch when I needed some photos, and KT and I had a scheduling conflict.  As nice as he is talented, Andrew was such a pleasure to work with--very appreciative indeed, sir!  Alright gang, y'all have a great start to your week.  Make it a good one!

Off the Grid

dress (Friends & Associates, Voce on Clay, Lexington, see other checks below), satchel (Cambridge Satchel, how cute is this GOLD one), sneaks (Converse), cuff (Similar), watch (Michael Kors), rings (Lagos, Anna Beck), shades (Banana Republic, c/o, see similar HERE)

Snagged this adorable jumper after getting my haircut at Voce.  Yep, you read that right, a salon and a boutique wrapped in one..otherwise known as a damn danger zone---but in the best kinda way.  And you all know my first go to is pairing a frock with Sneaks because it makes it more comfy and kinda de-girlies (is that a word?) it.  Good news for us plaid/check lovers--it's here to stay for the fall--in a major way.  This Plaid Midi and This Checked Number are just two of the several pieces I've been eyeing lately.  Make sure to check out more plaid, gingham, and the like below--ALL UNDER $100 and ready to transition to Fall.  Alright gang, make it a good one and enjoy your evening!

Hair Raising

We're gonna talk hair today, gang.  But before we dive into that--may I apologize for the radio silence.  If you follow s + s on INSTAGRAM, then you know I took a little bday getaway to Ojai, California this weekend..which can I just say, is absolutely breathtaking, charming, quaint, lovely, perfect, and somewhere I will definitely be visiting again.  Now if you don't follow along IG, then you prob think I'm a slack as*, lazy bones blogger and I can't say I blame you---meant to give y'all a heads up on my mini departure but alas, got caught up in the kiddies, job, packing, etc...promise to have outfit posts coming back 'atcha this week right after I wrap up a work meeting in Columbus.

Ok, onto the 'do.  I got my hair done last week at my usual joint, Voce on Clay, with my go-to gal, Shawnee.  The night before, I started sifting through some previous posts trying to figure out which cut suits me best....kinda couldn't decide as they are all quite similar and yet they've each got a bit of a different vibe.  Ultimately I chose one of the above pics for inspo (can ya guess which one), and I have to say, Shawnee knocked it outta the park, per usual.  And while the cut is obviously an integral part of your hairstyle, the product you use is quite important, too.  I get asked three questions pretty frequently regarding the 'do so figured I'd do a quick roundup of my hair routine:

"How do you style your hair?"
Blow dry using my fingers to rake it forward.  Top 'er off with a flat iron.
"What is the texture of your hair?"
Pretty thick thanks to my mom...gets wavier as I get older.
"What product do you use?"
Aveeno shampoo , Marco Pelusi Anti Freeze Leave In Conditioner, Marco Pelusi Color Smoothing Gloss, Drugstore Pomade to give it the piecy look

I have used Marco's Leave In Conditioner and Color Smoothing Gloss (applying a dime size while hair is still wet prior to drying) since having short hair and I swear by it.  Since I both blow dry and straighten my hair almost daily, it can get a smidge dried out and these two suckers keep the locks smooth and flyaway free.  I had the pleasure of meeting  Marco on my last trip to LA and I have to say--he is equally sweet as he is talented.
Alright gang, cheers to a great week and cheers to the UK Wildcats for an amazing ride--you boys done good this season--us Lexingtonians are awfully proud of you!

Stay Puffed

turtleneck (J.Crew major SALE), vest, belt, necklace (J.Crew),  jeggings (Express), flats (Dani Black, Monkee's of Lexington),  bag (Burberry), shades (Gucci), bracelets (J.Crew, Stella & DotAsosVoce on Clay), watch (Cartier)

Remember THE LAYERS....I stated the Puffer Vest is one of my tried and true winter staples.  In my humble opinion, it is the perfect layering piece throughout the chilly months.  Interestingly enough, I also find them to be oddly flattering when zipped up.

A little housekeeping note, per the advice of one of my absolute favorite fashion/DIY bloggers (she makes  the best DIY baubles), Grace Atwood, from Stripes & Sequins, I installed a "Pin It" button to each shot so y'all can pin images even easier than before.  Y'all stay bundled out there and make it a good one!

Cozy Stripes

blazer (J.Crew), blouse (GAP--sold out, alternate HERE), scarf (GAP), jeans (Paige), boots (Frye), bag (Lauren Merkin, Voce on Clay in Lex, KY), bracelet & watch (J.Crew), shades (Ray Ban), ring (Lagos)
Granted, my husband asked me upon wearing this scarf, "What, did you pull a muscle in your neck?"...I can't help but adore a good, cozy Infinity Scarf.  The fact it's in a prepster stripe---even better!  I actually wore this sucker to the pumpkin patch with the babes this weekend with a coordinating stripe sweatshirt, and it was quite cozy and cute.   One other tidbit, I tend to consider stripes in a navy palette neutral.  You can pair em' with polkadots, complementing stripes, checks, leopard, and floral..."infinite" options, indeed!  Y'all make it a good one!

9 to 5

blazer (Piperlime-Tinley Road), blouse (GAP), skirt (Jcrew adorable option HERE), shoes (Seychelles ON SALE), ring (Kendra Scott, Voce on Clay), iPad cover (Jcrew--THIS ONE IS $9.99!), watch (Cartier), bracelets (Jcrew), shades (Chanel), ring (Lagos)
Back to the grind, eh gang?  Working in an uber competitive field, it sure doesn't hurt to add a little splash of personality to my work ensemble.  Break away from the usual and add a punch of print & color!  Sure, in the workforce, we all want to be known for our drive, determination, and brains....but adding a stellar wardrobe to your resume certainly will help to get the job done!  Make it a good one, gang!
